WTTC July 2023 meeting report

By Jose Luis Quintero, Skål International WTTC Delegate

WTTC President Julia Simpson has just returned from the G20 meeting in Goa, India, where she attended the G20 Tourism Ministerial Conference as a representative of the private sector.

We were honored to receive notification of her attendance.

At the Conference, a dialogue and understanding between the public and the private sector was achieved; discussing the great problem of obtaining visas for travel and tourism activities between countries and other vital issues such as sustainability or the removal of barriers to investment in tourism activities anywhere in the world.

In this way, she demonstrated that the joint work between the public and private sectors on tourism issues generates greater economic strength, improves employment and makes those who travel happy by giving them the opportunity to enjoy and learn from other cultures.

Therefore, she thanked everyone for their important work, especially the Ministry of Tourism of India, which was responsible for the success and the warm welcome offered to the WTTC delegation.

During her stay, Ms. Simpson signed a historic Memorandum of Understanding with UNWTO. This protocol extends public-private sector collaboration worldwide. Promoting job creation, talent development and business opportunities between countries around the world.

She will continue these actions with interviews with tourism leaders, thus beginning the development of the public-private cooperation protocol.
